The county features the recreation of a turn of the last century town at Crossroad’s Village and Huckleberry Railroad, the Sloan Museum of Discovery offers opportunities to learn more about the region, while For-Mar Nature Preserve & Arboretum is the perfect place to get away and enjoy nature with the ones you love. Throughout the warmer months, there are also many events and fairs to attend as well as concerts in the park. From Mundy to Flint, Swartz Creek to Linden, there is no better area to welcome family and friends.
For those looking for space for sports tournaments, there are many options to choose from. For bowling, there is Galaxy Lanes in Grand Blanc, B’s Bowling Center in Flint, Colonial Lanes in Flushing, Fenton Lanes in Fenton, and many more. Outside of the lanes, each space offers food and entertainment when teams aren’t playing. When it comes to baseball and softball there are many options available like the Clio Youth Sports Complex, Creasey Bicentennial Park in Grand Blanc, Union City Fields in Flint, and other fields at many of the county parks. For those into soccer, there are several to choose from as well. Court-based sports can look to Cage Sports as a possible venue with Berston Field House in Flint serving as a hub for the city’s sports. With easy access to any of the fields or alleys, plenty of hotels, and a wide variety of restaurants, this is a great area to bring your tournament or team.
Someone with bigger ideas needs to look no further than Flint & Genesee to create their perfect event. For something like a convention, there is the Dort Financial Center, which has plentiful space and amenities to host large gatherings, or perhaps one of their smaller spaces for growing events. The event center is the home of the OHL hockey team the Flint Firebirds, and has also welcomed large-scale concerts, conventions, niche dealer events, and more. This venue is the easiest space for a large event but there are other options as well. Flint & Genesee has local halls and meeting spaces at hotels. For mid-sized gatherings, the Flint Farmers' Market has event spaces available and on market days offers guests the option of staying within the facility to get a snack or a meal. They have hosted everything from weddings to retirement parties to comic conventions and handled all of them well. You may even want out the Mott Community College Conference & Event Services.
There are many options for weddings in the area, such as the University of Michigan-Flint's Northbank Center, and their Riverfront Conference Center, and with the current work being done on the historic Flint Masonic Temple that will re-open another option moving forward. Looking further out there is Bella Birches in Flushing, Fenton Winery & Brewery, Genesys Conference & Banquet Center in Grand Blanc, and there are other options available as well.
With four major colleges near downtown Flint and several satellite campuses around the county, there are amazing opportunities to connect with young people to tap into their fandoms as well as the interests of older hobbyists and fans as well.
