Featuring the largest parks system in the state of Michigan, you can go from a day on the beach to a night on the town in a matter of minutes in Genesee County, and that’s just for starters.

If you want a night out in the city, or are in town for a concert or festival, downtown Flint has just what you need.

From dinner at Churchill’s Food & Spirits, Sauce Italian American Kitchen, Blackstone’s Smokehouse, Sweetwater Tavern, or one of the other options the city offers. Barbecue, Italian food, casual or fine dining, there’s something for everyone.

The city is home to large festivals and events like the Bikes on the Bricks motorcycle event, Back to the Bricks car show, Crim Festival of Races, Flint Drop Fest, Buckham Alley Fest, and many others that fill the calendar.

Bikes on the Bricks

From classical concerts at the FIM Whiting Auditorium, touring concerts at the FIM Capitol Theatre, or an outlaw country show at the Machine Shop, Flint has the shows you want to see.

Add in the Flint Cultura Center’s offerings with the Gloria Coles Flint Public Library, Longway Planetarium, Flint Institute of Arts Museum + Art School, Applewood Estate, Sloan Museum of Discovery, and the Flint Repertory Theatre, and there is plenty to do and see in Flint.

If you want to slow things down, look no further than Flushing’s Farmhouse Folk for one of their folk concerts. Head to Mundy Township for Mundy Miracle Commons and their inclusive ball fields or walking paths. Or head to Linden for music by the Mill Pond.

If you are looking to get back to nature, then the Genesee County Parks have exactly what you need. If you want to take a walk amidst nature, you can head to For-Mar Nature Preserve & Arboretum, check out the Genesee County Fair in Mt. Morris, or take a trip to Wolverine Campground for a campout with the family.

Head back in time at Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad, where you can walk the streets of a recreation of 19th-century small town life. With events every weekend during summer months and special attractions during the Halloween and Christmas season, this has become a cherished destination for good reason.

Head out to the lake for some fishing at Bluegill Boat Launch or rent a kayak there for a nice trip on the water. Over at Stepping Stone Falls, you can take in the waterfalls or take a walk along the trail. If you are looking to go for a swim, you can go to Bluebell Beach or Clover Beach at Linden County Park.

With a slower pace and down-home food options, Genesee County’s smaller towns have just the cure for you if you need to get away from the city.

Head to Grand Blanc, or Fenton, to experience the best of both worlds. Enjoy community theater in Fenton from the Fenton Community Players, and a delicious meal at Sagano Japanese Bistro & Steakhouse, The Laundry, or Fenton House, or head to Railyard Fenton for a drink and some fun. In Grand Blanc, you can dine at Irene’s Craft Kitchen & Biergarten, Italia Gardens, or Little Joe’s Tavern and then go to Creasey Bicentennial Park for some outdoor fun.

Whether you are looking for a night on the town, a walk in the park, a trip to 19th-century Michigan, or an afternoon at the lake, Flint and Genesee has what you’re looking for. Make your plans for a visit at Explore Flint & Genesee’s website today - https://www.exploreflintandgenesee.org/
