With Mother’s Day just around the corner, we’ve compiled a few experiences unique to Flint & Genesee for celebrating the women in your life. This weekend, you could:
Go shopping.
In addition to the area’s many retailers, there are some special shopping events scheduled for this weekend. For example, more than 40 vendors will be at the Fenton Community & Cultural Center for Mom’s Market on Saturday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. In Davison, there will be a Mother’s Day Craft Show at the Davison Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Take her to a concert.
The Flint School of Performing Arts (FSPA) will present “Lullabies Live: A Mother’s Love in Song” on Saturday, May 7 at 3 p.m. in the MacArthur Recital Hall. Ten songs from FSPA’s Carnegie Hall Lullaby Projects – which invites young pregnant women and new parents to work with professional musicians to create a personalized lullaby for their child – will be performed live in a fundraiser to support future projects. Treat her to brunch.
Whether she loves traditional French toast or lobster eggs benedict, there’s something for everyone in Flint & Genesee, especially as multiple restaurants and venues are hosting brunch specials Sunday, May 8. This includes Atlas Valley Golf Club (seating times at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.); Cork on Saginaw; Davison Country Club. Most events require reservations, so be sure to call ahead to confirm seating availability.
Or make breakfast together!
On Saturday, the Little Suga’s baking and pastry arts business will walk mothers and their children through making pancakes at the Flint Farmers’ Market. Reservations are required for this special event, which will also include a parfait and omelet bar. Families are asked to wear matching outfits.
Try something new.
You might embrace your creative side at Painting with a Twist in Fenton is offering multiple painting classes this weekend. Or – for families who like a good puzzle – visit Spymaker Escape Rooms, which is offering moms free admission on Sunday.
