A Flint & Genesee tradition returns on August 10 when Be a Tourist In Your Hometown makes its return, celebrating the many wonderful and unique areas the city offers. Tourists will be able to visit the Applewood Estate, go to the Flint Farmers’ Market, tour the Mott-Warsh Gallery, walk through Glenwood Cemetery, and those are just a few of the many opportunities available during the event. For the cost of $1, guests will have the option to choose from one of five tour routes with destinations all around Flint & Genesee.
Be A Tourist in Your Hometown showcases not just the places scheduled to be visited, but the city itself, which continues to change and evolve. The event is a great way to live like a tourist for one day without heading out of town, allowing “tourists” to sample some of the places and restaurants they may never have been to. Visitors to the city will find new eateries and new businesses, and that the famous bricks of Saginaw Street have been re-done.
For Explore Flint & Genesee, the organization behind Be a Tourist, the program isn’t only about enjoying the sights, sounds, and activities of the area on one day a year but reminding people that these places exist year-round just waiting to be rediscovered.
