The warmer months are something many look forward to as they make spring and summer plans. For campers, it’s the arrival of spring and summer that lets them put long-held plans into motion as they head out to sleep under the stars. Whether your preference is to rough it in a tent, bring your RV, or rent an RV, there are options available in Flint & Genesee.

As you are looking for a place to stay, you can check out Covenant Hills Camp & Retreat in Otisville. Covenant Hills offers both RV and tent camping, although you’ll need to reserve your space ahead of time. Offering several different camp and retreat experiences, this is a great spot for families looking for a getaway. There is plenty for the kids to do, with a nearby playground to keep them busy during the day and night and activities to take part in. There is also no need to feel like you are roughing it, with well-maintained bath and shower facilities available and available Wi-Fi so you don’t miss any important news. There are 55 drive-up spots for larger rigs as well as hookups for smaller-sized recreational vehicles. If you prefer to stay in a cabin, they have a limited number of those available. The campground is open year-round and has regularly scheduled events and rental spaces available for weddings or special occasions.

Wolverine Campground is another for campers in Flint & Genesee and the location offers you the opportunity to stay near Holloway Reservoir Buttercup Beach. Like Covenant Hills, Wi-Fi is available, so you don’t feel like you are roughing it too much while you camp in your tent or RV. If you are interested in the water, you can not only swim but also rent a kayak to head out for the day or find the perfect spot for fishing. There are water and sewer hookups available for RVs, as well as power available. The campsite has weekly programming for families and there is volleyball, tetherball, cornhole, and gaga ball to help pass the time.

For those wanting to camp without using a tent or bringing a camper, there are RV rental options available at Wolverine Campgrounds. The RV Share reservation system offers the opportunity to rent campers for a short period of time. The process for renting is very easy, with a website that handles things for you after you pick the type of vehicle and the dates you plan to visit. You can rent an RV to drive to the location, rent one to tow, or even have one dropped off for you if you just want to experience that lifestyle for a few days. It’s a fantastic option to have and will make camping more comfortable. You can find the link to the reservation system on the website of Wolverine Campground.

For gear, there are several local options to shop. Rocky’s Great Outdoors is something of a superstore for an outdoor lifestyle and offers everything you could need for camping. Trekking poles, camping forks, airbeds, outdoor fuel, outdoor stoves, and more are all available at Rocky’s.

Genesee County has two locations for Dunham’s Sports that also offer anything you could ask for when it comes to camping. You will also find that some of the local hunting and fishing stores will have some camping equipment available.

Camping – whether in a tent, cabin, or RV – is a great way to spend a vacation with the family. And you can find everything you need in Flint & Genesee! So, grab some bug spray and head outdoors.
