Also: American Legion of Michigan in Town for State Conference

(FLINT, Mich. – Feb. 11, 2016) The bats will be swinging this weekend at the Genesee Fieldhouse where 42 teams will compete in the 9th Annual Duel in Dome. In addition, the Michigan American Legion is also holding its state convention in Mundy Township this weekend.

More than 1,000 14U and high school players are expected to bring their ‘A’ games for the three-day slugfest. Teams are traveling from as far away as Sylvania, Ohio, which is west of Toledo.

“Duel at the Dome is Genesee County’s largest winter softball tournament,” said Mona Murphy, Sports Sales Manager, Flint and Genesee Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. “Adam Collier and his staff do an excellent job of scheduling the 1,000-plus players over the course of the weekend and keeping things moving.

“This tournament is full every year and the players have a blast, no matter what Mother Nature is doing outside. It also provides a positive economic impact, with the money the teams and families spend on lodging, restaurants and fuel.”

Games begin Friday, Feb. 12, at 5 p.m. and run until 2 a.m. Saturday’s games run from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday’s championship games start at 6 a.m. and end about 11:30 p.m.

Admission is $3 and spectators may wish to bring their own chairs. Where: Genesee Fieldhouse, 7383 Grand Parkway (just off US-23 at Grand Blanc Rd.) in Grand Blanc.
