In Davison Township, Lake Callis Recreation Complex sits on 35 acres of land featuring a variety of amenities. The man-made lake and beach, boasting the same name as the park, sits at the center of this family-friendly recreation area.

The area is named after Bob Callis, a long-time Davison community resident and educator who envisioned a place for the community to enjoy outdoor activities; and, there are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy -- some are more unique than others.

1. Learn how to paddleboard

The Davison Township Parks & Recreation hosts paddleboard classes, for those who are new to the water activity, and other fun classes such as paddleboard yoga for those who are more advanced. Don’t have a paddleboard? Don’t worry. Visitors can rent one for $10 for the first hour and $5 each additional hour.

2. Catch a movie

Throughout the summer Davison Township Parks & Recreation hosts Movies at the Beach. Most Friday nights, visitors can enjoy a movie projected on the big screen.

3. Attend a food truck festival

On the third Friday of the month, food trucks, live music and activities start before Movies at the Beach.

4. Enjoy a game of volleyball

Lake Callis Recreation Complex holds six NCAA rated sand volleyball courts. The courts are available for leagues, rental or use by availability.

5. Make a Splash

Not only does Lake Callis have a man-made beach perfect for swimming, the complex also boasts a “Dash-n-Splash” pad featuring sprinklers, waterfalls and a giant water dumping bucket.
