For some it’s the sound of a familiar holiday song, for others, it’s catching a favorite advertisement that gets you sentimental about the season. But for others, it’s the food and drink distinctive of this time of year that puts them in the mood for celebration. Whether you are taking in the Flint Cultural Center’s 38th Annual Holiday Walk, the Gingerbread Building Competition in Davison, or the Holly Dickens Festival there is something delicious being served in Flint & Genesee to set the mood for fun.

The Song of the Lakes Chorus is holding its Annual Holiday Tea on December 2 at the Bristol Road Church of Christ. This afternoon of tea and music from the Sweet Adelines will put you in the holiday spirit and keep you warm as the temperatures start to dip. Tickets to the event are $30.

On December 7, Sugarbush Golf Club & Banquet Center will host the Holiday Collection Wine Tasting inviting the public to an evening of fine dining and drink. For $50 guests will enjoy five wines that have been paired with five small plates, specially curated by their chef to bring out the flavor. This will be a wonderful opportunity to expand your palate or just sample some seasonal wines.

Even children can get in on the fun. On December 14, kids between the ages of 6-14 are welcome to join Little Chef – Gingerbread Cookies and learn how to make gingerbread cookies. Parents must be in attendance and children will learn how to safely prepare and handle food as well as to cook it to completion. There is a cost, but this is a great way to encourage young people who are interested in learning more about baking.

You can scarcely ask for a better backdrop for a meal with family or friends than to take in the Christmas Dinner Buffet at Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad. With a variety of items to choose from you will leave full and glowing from the food and festive atmosphere. The buffet is offered on select days and reservations are suggested but with the village as the view for your meal, you can’t go wrong.

Finally, for more holiday wines you need look no further than the Fenton Winery & Brewery, which has already released its White Velvet white cranberry wine and is sure to have other special surprises the closer to the holidays it gets.

Be it a hot drink, a cool beverage, or a warm meal you will find the comfort you need to ring in the season and end the year on the happiest of notes.
