Finding Pies for the Holidays in Flint & Genesee

As the holidays near and more time is spent with family and friends, our minds turn to the delicious meals to come. Naturally, the perfect end to any meal is to top things off with a memorable pie that’s been made with care and skill. Two of the local apple orchards in the area have pies available and on hand to pick up. Spicer Orchard in Fenton offers a wide range of pies, including raspberry, pumpkin, pecan, cherry, apple, and several others that give you some varieties to choose from for whatever occasion you have. At Montrose Orchards, you’ll find a vast selection of products for sale for your meal, like farm-fresh eggs and honey, but they also feature baked goods and a nice selection of pies. They do sell out, so you may want to call ahead to place an order first if there’s something specific you want.  

As you enter Davison Home Bakery you may find yourself tempted by their fresh donuts, cinnamon rolls, and cookies even though you know you are there for their wonderful pies. They offer lemon meringue, strawberry rhubarb, Dutch apple, a Splenda pie, and many others.  

Fenton’s Crust - a baking company has become known for its delicious pastries and sweets and their pies are no different. Crust’s pies include an American berry double crust pie, pecan, caramel double crust, pumpkin, apple crumble, apple double crust, and even a few kinds of ‘cutie’ sized pies. With your pie in hand, you can even pair it with some freshly baked bread and take care of that part of the meal as well.  

In Flushing, you can stop at the Trackside Café for breakfast or lunch and while you’re there pick out one of their pies for the road. Whether you went for the pie and stayed for a meal or went for a meal and brought home one of their amazing pies, that won’t matter once you’ve dipped a fork into that crust.  

Clio’s Brough Bakery gives off a sense of joy when you step inside, and it comes across in their baked goods as well. Brough’s has several in stock every day, such as peanut butter pie, apple, cherry, rhubarb, and strawberry rhubarb. If you order ahead though you can get such pies as their BBQ apple, pumpkin cheesecake, very berry, cherry bomb, and many, many more.  

King Arthur Pasties has two locations, one in Flint and another in Grand Blanc, and along with their pasties, quiche, cookies, and bread, they also sell cake and pie. Cream pies, fruit pies, and pecan pies are waiting to be picked up in case you forget and need to stop in on the way home.  

Finally, Grand Blanc’s Taste of Heaven is a catering business that has you order online ahead of time, but their sweets are as tasty as they are beautiful. They offer sweet potato pie, apple cobbler, chocolate candy bar, blueberry cobbler, cherry cobbler, pecan, and pumpkin pie.
