Regional Chamber CVB Launches Interactive Website

(FLINT, MICH.) Finding your way to attractions and resources in downtown Flint just became easier with the launch of Explore Flint.  The new Flint Genesee Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau (Regional Chamber CVB) website, which goes live today, offers visitors a unique way to find downtown locations through an interactive map.

According to Tim Herman, CEO of the Regional Chamber the new website will make getting around downtown Flint easier than ever before.

“Downtown Flint provides a wealth of things to do and this site makes it easier to locate the places you need to go,” said Herman.  “Whether you are a visitor to the region or live in the area, Explore Flint will provide quick, easy to follow guidance to help you get to places across downtown.  This unique site is great for the region.”

Explore Flint is funded by the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation and is the result of a collaborative effort that began early last year.  Developed by the C.S. Mott Foundation, Uptown Reinvestment Corporation, the Regional Chamber CVB and the Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce, the site is designed to enhance getting around downtown Flint for all those looking to enjoy the city.

Cheryl DeFrain, Director of the Regional Chamber CVB says the Explore Flint site will provide an easy to go to resource for visitors to the region looking to find attractions, restaurants or other downtown assets.

“When visitors come to the region they often want to dine in restaurants and visit cultural attractions,” said DeFrain.  “Now we have a resource that they can access even before they arrive to navigate activities around downtown.”

The website, developed by Olmstead Associates in conjunction with 3Sixty Interactive, is mobile friendly and can be accessed from a smart phone.  Explore Flint currently covers downtown Flint, but there are plans to expand the site to include locations throughout the region.

Scott Whipple, Project Manager for Uptown Development says Explore Flint is a unique site that features easy to use functionality and shows our willingness as a region to welcome guests to downtown Flint.

“Explore Flint is a great asset for the community,” said Whipple.  “When we first came together last year to consider ways to make getting around downtown easier, we wanted to create something special that both visitors and residents of the region could access.  Good things are happening downtown and this site offers a way for people to find their way around.”
