Temperatures are dropping, and so are the leaves, making this the perfect time for a county color tour. With acres of parks and rural communities within a short drive, you'll find plenty of opportunities to enjoy the beauty of fall and all it has to offer.
For-Mar Nature Preserve & Arboretum
With easy access and wide paths, fall’s splendor is on full display here. Stop by the barrier-free treehouse to look out over the preserve, or the visitors center to see the nature displays. With acres of trees and paths, this is a great place to take in the color.
The Mounds
Off-road vehicle lovers will love hitting the dirt as the leaves change, and the Mounds will provide the perfect backdrop for a day spent cutting loose on this 370-acre area of off-road trails.
Richfield Park
Along with a track for BMX racing, Richfield Park features easily walkable paths, pavilions for picnics, many accessible areas, and accessible parking.
Atlas County Park
Spanning over 150 acres, the park offers fields, ponds, Kearsley Creek, Atlas Millpond, and the Gale Road trail, plus more, giving you a great opportunity to enjoy all that fall has to offer.
Linden County Park
Take a walk by Byrum Lake or have a picnic on the beach. The site features paved pathways and an ADA-compliant ramp from the beach to the parking area.
You'll find nearly 2,000 acres of trees, a waterway, a beach, and more, including a canoe launch site.
Clio City Park
Located in downtown Clio, the park offers river views, a paved walking and bike path, playground equipment, and a place to enjoy the changing seasons, all within walking distance of restaurants and food.
Flushing County Park
Spanning 105 acres, this park near the center of the city has a playground, hiking trails, and an area to let your dogs off leash. It offers river views and places to sit, grab a snack, or take a walk. The park offers paved pathways and accessible toilets.
Beyond the parks, you can stop into some of the area’s rural communities like Linden, Flushing, Clio, Montrose, Goodrich, or Argentine Township, and you can take a walk downtown, take in the changing leaves, do some shopping, and grab a warm drink, a snack, or a full meal.
