Looking to boost employee morale and know-how this year? Good news: The Flint & Genesee Chamber of Commerce has nearly doubled its training and development offering for 2017.

The new lineup features nearly 80 workshops and presentations ranging from the broad (Following Your Passion) to the specific (Navigating the ISO 9001:2015 Transition). Sessions will be held at various locations throughout Genesee County and range in cost from free to $30 per person.

“Professional development is key to employee and employer growth,” said Michelle Hill, Director of Shared Services at the Flint & Genesee Chamber. “However, bringing in workshops can be a major expense for businesses – big or small. Our goal is simplify that process by serving as a central resource for companies and professionals seeking continuing education.”

According to Hill, most topics will fall into one of seven categories, including business development, financial planning, fundraising, health & wellness, human resources, leadership, marketing, and workplace safety & security.

The Chamber will average about one to two workshops a week during the year, and will kick off with the following two sessions:

Jan. 17: Healthy Cooking Demo

Learn how to make over some traditional meals that are normally high in fat and calories into nutrient-packed, healthy versions. Attendees will learn about grocery shopping tips, healthy cooking substitutions and different techniques, while an expert creates a zucchini noodle dish for everyone to try.

Jan. 26: “Future Proof” Your Marketing for 2017
