In Clio, the Auto City Outdoor Event Center is one of the Midwest’s most exciting speedways hosting a variety of events and races fit for car lovers.
Originally opened in 1955, Auto City was developed in response to Birch Run’s Dixie Motor Speedway - the only racing game in town. According to Genesee History, the track was opened by an agitated racer after a promoter at the time said about Dixie Motor Speedway, "...if you don't like it, go build your own racetrack." Formerly made of three dirt tracks, in 1986 was paved with high-density asphalt and became known as the fastest half-mile in Michigan.
The venue is excellent for corporate outings, festivals, car shows, revivals, outdoor movies and sporting events.
