One of the sure signs that fall has arrived, in people’s hearts if not on the calendar, is the return of football. Football season is kicking off for everyone, and this weekend marks the return of an annual tradition. The weekend also features the opening of corn mazes, and a record show.
This year’s Vehicle City Gridiron Classic will return to Flint’s Atwood Stadium for two days of football fun. Fans will pack the stadium to see four great games featuring some of the region’s best teams.
On Thursday, Aug. 28, the matchups will be:
1 p.m.| Summerfield vs. Beecher
4 p.m.| Clio vs. Mt. Morris
7 p.m.| Millington vs. Reese
On Friday, Aug. 29, the matchup will be:
4 p.m.| Erie Mason vs. Flint Elite
Tickets are $10, with parking being $5. It will be a great kickoff to the holiday weekend and an excellent way to start the new football season.
Part of the magic of the fall season is heading to the farm to shop for treats, have an adventure, and try your hand at a corn maze. Flushing Farms invites you to “Get Lost in Our Corn Maze,” from Sept. 29 through Oct. 31. Visitors to Flushing Farms will be able to take a barrel ride, visit the petting zoo, have a donut, get some cider, and most importantly, head through the three corn mazes. If you are ready for fall, then start this weekend in Flushing Township.
On Aug. 30, you can shop for records at the Vehicle City Record Show being held at Flint Local 432. This event will feature vendors set up with crates of records to dig through, showcasing music from different styles and genres. DJ Phizyx will be playing vinyl all day to keep the groove going. Admission is free.
It's a busy weekend in Flint & Genesee, and for the full list, head to the Explore Flint & Genesee calendar of events.
