The weekend that car lovers in Mid-Michigan have been waiting for has returned, and that means that Back to the Bricks is here once more. Whether you are a gearhead or a casual aficionado, this is a special time of year with car cruises and the main car show happening in downtown Flint.
Friday, Aug. 15, will be the Cruise ‘N Concert right on the bricks of downtown Flint, featuring the music of Packin Heat. The band will bring the party to the streets with music that will make everyone move, featuring hits from Motown to more modern songs. The band will play from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Opening for them will be The Regulators, playing classic rock favorites.
The main event takes place the next day, Saturday, Aug. 16, and will fill downtown with classic cars from every era. Whether you prefer the dawn of the motor vehicle or more modern muscle cars, there will be something to make your jaw drop. Along with thousands of cars on display, there will be a featured display in the Flat Lot at the corners of Saginaw Street and First Street, a Corvette reunion, classic cars for sale, a swap meet, Buicks on the Bricks, and more. For those planning to spend the whole day downtown, the restaurants will be open, as well as many food trucks, which will be set up and taking orders. If you have never attended the event, it’s truly a spectacle that needs to be seen to be believed.
Also, this weekend, find some family fun on the farm in Flushing on Aug. 16 at the Flushing Farmer’s Market, where a variety of locally grown food and goods will be for sale. Not far from there, Flushing Farms has its Summer on the Farm event. For the cost of admission, there is plenty to keep the family busy, including two inflatable obstacle courses, a petting zoo, bounce houses, straw mounds for climbing, hay wagon and barrel train rides, and a complimentary donut or ice cream with a drink purchase.
