On Thursday, March 22, the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce’s eTeam is sponsoring the Jumpstart Conference for entrepreneurs and early stage businesses.  The conference, which takes place from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Holiday Gateway Centre, features all the things needed to start and grow your small business.

A luncheon highlighting the Genesee 10 to Watch and Spark Award recipients will feature Gerald Moore, Michigan District Director of the U.S. Small Business Administration as the key note speaker.  Moore will share his personal experience as an entrepreneur and address ways the SBA can assist small businesses and entrepreneurs.

Jumpstart participants will have the opportunity to participate in several breakout sessions:

  • Government contracting
  • Business planning
  • Marketing
  • Legal Structures
  • Inventors:  Idea to Market

Janice Karcher, Vice President of Economic Development describes Jumpstart as an opportunity to grow the region through encouraging entrepreneurship.

“Jumpstart is a low-cost event for entrepreneurs and new business owners and the agenda is packed full of valuable information,” said Karcher.  “This is a one-stop opportunity to learn about resources and make connections.”

The Regional Chamber’s eTeam is a partnership of entrepreneurial service providers working to connect local entrepreneurs and small businesses with resources to promote growth and success.  This is the fifth year that the eTeam has sponsored Jumpstart, including the Spark Awards and the Genesee 10 to Watch.  Spark Awards are presented to new businesses and the Genesee 10 to Watch recognizes early stage businesses that have exhibited growth.

The Holiday Inn Gateway Centre is located at 5353 Gateway Centre in Flint.

The cost to participate in Jumpstart is $10, which includes breakfast and lunch.  To learn more about the Jumpstart Conference contact Nell Taylor, Regional Chamber Business Development Manager at (810) 600-1434 or ntaylor@thegrcc.org.
