Flint & Genesee Convention & Visitors Bureau Visitor Center(FLINT, Mich., April 29, 2014) – The Flint & Genesee Convention & Visitors Bureau (FGCVB) will open two new Visitor Centers this year in the downtown Flint area. The main Visitor Center will open May 1 in the south lobby of the Commerce Center at 519 S. Saginaw Street. A second, smaller, Visitor Center will open June 21 at the new Flint Farmer’s Market.

“Having a Visitor Center in the heart of downtown Flint gives us an opportunity to assist visitors to our area identify and find area attractions, restaurants, hotels and other amenities,” said Cheryl DeFrain, Director of the FGCVB. “This will be especially helpful to visitors during major events such as the Back to the Bricks Car Cruise and the Crim Festival of Races.”

Hours of operation for the main Visitor Center will be 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday offering visitors brochures, maps and other information about Flint & Genesee County. The Center will be manned by the Flint Sparks, volunteers who work directly with the Flint & Genesee Convention and Visitors Bureau to welcome visitors to our community.

The Visitor Center at the Farmer’s Market will share space with The Whiting and be open during regular market hours on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. In addition to tourist information, it will also offer Flint & Genesee items for purchase such as the FGCVB desktop calendars, T-shirts and keepsakes.

The FGCVB will also continue to operate the Visitor Information Center at Bishop International Airport.

The FGCVB is looking for more volunteers to join the Flint Sparks to work in the Visitor Center. To volunteer, contact Courtney Irish, FGCVB Sales Manager, at 810-600 1456 orcirish@flintandgenesee.org.
