Flint & Genesee is home to vibrant cities, gorgeous landscapes, thriving waterways, a sprawling parks system, and small towns full of history and memories. Below are some of the things that make the area so memorable.

THE MURALS

Overseen by the Flint Public Arts Project, the “Mural Project” has transformed vacant, underutilized, and privately owned buildings into canvases for street artists from around the nation to share their talents with the city of Flint. There are several hundred murals around the city waiting to be discovered and admired.

THE ART

Flint & Genesee is home to amazing art galleries, including the Flint ArtWalk, but there are many more in the area. Stop by the Flint Institute of Arts Museum, the Buckham Gallery, the MW Gallery, or the Greater Flint Arts Council in Flint. Visit Art at the Market Gallery for local art, the Swartz Creek Art Guild, or the Creative Café in Flint Township, which has a market with local art, classes, and event space.

THE MUSIC

See nationally touring rock and country acts at Flint’s Machine Shop, and check out emerging local hip-hop and rock at Flint Local 432. Flushing is home to Farmhouse Folk, a small venue that features touring folk music, and Clio offers summer concerts at the Clio Amphitheater. In Fenton, you can enjoy live music during the summer at its Music in the Park. Local bars and clubs regularly feature local and regional music, and downtown Flint hosts its beloved Jazz festival every summer.

THE THEATER

Flint boasts the FIM Whiting Theatre and the FIM Capitol Theatre, where you can see musicals and plays; they are just two of the many local venues that offer live theater. The New McCree Theatre in Flint regularly hosts musicals and plays, and the Flint Local 432 has also become a home for local theater. Clio and Fenton offer local theater as well, and many of the county’s community schools give students the stage during the year.

Flint & Genesee is home to legendary music acts, hosts one of the nation’s largest classic car shows, boasts over 11,000 acres of parks, and more. Whatever you are looking for, your adventure starts here.
