The 2013 Back to the Bricks Cruise Weekend will take auto-inspired art to new heights with Artomotive an art competition developed by Flint & Genesee Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Back to the Bricks Statue Committee and the Greater Flint Arts Council.

Body shop painters, traditional fine artists and the public are invited to “Raise the Hood” by incorporating an automotive hood into a piece of art for the competition.  The competition includes two separate divisions.

The off-site competition requires artists to deliver completed works to assigned Flint & Genesee locations on August 5 for exhibition and judging.  On-site competitors will work at assigned Flint & Genesee locations between August 5 and August 9. Artists must be 18 years of age and an automotive hood must be incorporated into the work.

Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. There will also be a “People’s Choice” Grand Prize. All entries will be auctioned at a Benefit Auction held during the Back to the Bricks show on Saturday, August 17. The competition benefits the Automotive Pioneers Statue Fund.

An application form and entry fee of $50 must be submitted to the Artomotive Committee on or before July 31, 2013 to compete. Application information is available at www.backtothebricks.org.
